The 16th Cavalry Regiment is a community that was first formed as a Mount and Musket regiment in late-2010 and early-2011. During this time, a foundation of a strong sense of identity and camaraderie was laid- and provided an excellent framework from which we rooted ourselves into the Arma franchise a short time later.
In short, we're a group of guys that take pride in the community we have shaped, who treasure the memories of our past, and look enthusiastically into the future as we attempt to bring fresh faces into the mix. We believe that we have struck a great balance between a structured and serious unit and a lax and liberating community environment.
How Do We Do Things?
The purpose of this community is to provide an authentic Arma experience without the added baggage of some 'Realism' or 'Milsim' units.
We accomplish this by first and foremost providing a community where above everything we treasure camaraderie, where everyone is free to speak their mind and enjoy themselves. Secondly, we use a role-based leadership structure when playing our Arma session; wherein everyone has the ability to lead varying formations of men and fill a plethora of roles provided they can grab it first. Thirdly, we try to limit the hardware we have available in our missions to advance the challenge and authenticity of our sessions; high-powered optics, excessive air assets, etc. are used in moderation.
Additionally, much focus is put into the community beyond Arma. Having switched from different platforms in the past, we know that games can come and go. We believe that the most important thing for our community is to build our ties as a group beyond any one game; we often play various games as a community - and even often have a movie night or two - with the aim of allowing us to further our experience no matter what it is we're doing.
Session and Unit Contact Details
Currently we have one weekly Arma session. Generally this session lasts at least 2 hours, though the server stays up should people want to play beyond that. We do not have frequent mandatory training for regular members, though we do require new members to go through some basic mod and unit familiarization. Beyond the regular weekly session, as mentioned, there is almost always something else going on- we encourage community members to be active in Teamspeak so as to become involved with the various activities we get ourselves in to.
